Monte Story:
I spotted a 1970 Monte in the
corner of a Nissan dealership parking lot while my friend was looking for a used
car.
I was 100 ft away but it looked nice from that distance. A salesman overheard
some comments I had made to my friend about the car and approached us to tell us
it was his. He told me some information such as the fact that it had 45,000
miles and a 350 engine. He did mention that he was thinking of selling it also.
I had no money and didn't really consider it. I never even looked at it closely.
For two weeks, all I could think about, or talk about, was that car. Finally,
the bank (Dad) approved an interest-free loan for me to possibly buy the car. My
Dad and I took a closer look at it. It had original paint, vinyl, interior,
everything. The car had been very well looked after. I had it looked at by a
mechanic I know and he test drove it. He said "if you don't buy it, I
will." That's all I needed to hear. I finally closed the deal in November 1996.
I had the car painted the original misty turquoise colour in 2000 and a new
vinyl roof was put on. The car is still completely stock
and my wife and I take it on road trips often, these cars were meant to be
driven.
